How does air cooled glycol chillers work? Know about the process

 

Chillers are widely used for many industrial applications throughout the world. A chiller comprises four essential components, namely, evaporator, compressor, condenser as well, as an expansion unit. Every chiller system also includes a refrigerant. The process commences with a low-pressure refrigerant entering the evaporator. This refrigerant is then heated inside the evaporator, thereby turning into gas. The gaseous refrigerant then moves into the compressor that increases its pressure by manifold.

Two kinds of condensers are used in the chillers, namely air-cooled condenser and water-cooled condenser. An air-cooled condenser also uses glycol. Such a condenser makes the use of ambient air to cool and condense the hot gas, thereby turning it back into liquid. 1.      The use of air-cooled glycol chillers is prevalent in food production and processing operations that demand a high degree of precision in temperature control. Such chillers control the temperature during the cooling process and enable that the operations are carried out smoothly.

 

2.      Apart from the food processing industry, air-cooled glycol chillers are also prevalent in metal finishing operations. Temperature control remains an integral part of different metal finishing processes such as electroless plating or electroplating. Such a process helps to remove excess heat. Apart from air-cooled glycol chillers, metal-finishing chillers are also used mainly in this industry for better application.

 

3.      Another widespread use of an air-cooled glycol chiller is observed in injection molding. This process refers to a mass-production technique used to create plastic parts. It often uses an injection-molding machine, mold, and thermoplastic pellets. As the procedure requires precise temperature limits, the use of chillers makes it easy and also prevents issues such as warping, cracking, or internal stresses in the final product.
